U by Uniworld debuted its second ship, The A, on its maiden voyage along the Rhine on April 14, 2018.
“We’re thrilled that our second U by Uniworld ship has officially set sail on the Rhine,” said Ellen Bettridge, President & CEO of Uniworld. “U continues to bring adventurous and curious travelers a completely new river cruise experience, with longer stays in destination that allow guests the chance to truly immerse themselves in the local culture. It’s a way to experience these incredible destinations like never before.”
The A is a 120-passenger ship that sails on the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers, flowing through the Netherlands and Central Europe. While on U’s ship, guests can take part in inclusions such as mixology classes, silent discos, yoga, wine tastings, farm-to-table dining, and more. Offshore, guests experience some of U’s cultural, immersive excursions such as an evening tour in a medieval castle; a foodie tour through the Jordaan district of Amsterdam; strolling through Keukenhof’s tulip gardens; and a bike tour and wine tasting at Eberbach Monastery, used as a filming location for “Game of Thrones.”
U’s dining experiences bring a taste of each destination onboard, utilizing ingredients from the local markets and inspired by the fares of the cities that are visited along the way. From comfort food to organic, healthy options, U’s master chefs accommodate every palate.
Boasting four Suites, 26 Balcony Bedrooms, 29 Studio Bedrooms and two Studios Bedrooms with triple occupancy – all accommodations aboard The A are equipped with waterfront views, flat screen TV’s, built-in Bluetooth speakers, various USB ports and more. Additionally, continuing its sustainable travel initiatives, U offers organic BeeKind amenities in all rooms, uses WhatsApp and email for internal communication with guests, displays menus on screens in the bar and restaurant, and has a Press Reader app for guests to receive news onboard.
