Scenic is rewarding those guests who plan early by offering its just unveiled 2019 program of European and Russian river at 2018 prices. The company is throwing in several other incentives for the US market including free flights to Europe or savings of up to $1,000 per person, and 50% off the single supplement. Scenic’s deals gives those early planners the opportunity to choose exactly what they want in terms of cruise itinerary, date and cabin selection.
Besides the built-in savings of booking a 2019 cruise at 2018 prices, guests booking any European sailings of 12 days or longer, or sailings of any length on the Rhine River, the Danube River between Nuremburg-Budapest, or Russia’s Volga River, can choose to fly free or enjoy $1,000 per person savings on their fares. Guests on 8- to 11-day itineraries on any of the European itineraries receive either free flights (Standard suites) or $495 flights (Balcony suites) to Europe or can choose fare savings of $500 per person. Solo travelers are being offered 50% off all single supplements on any European sailing from April through November. Scenic is also offering reduced Premium Economy and Business class airfares.
Scenic guests also enjoy the company’s river cruise guarantee – the only river cruise line to offer one. Backed by Chubb Insurance, the guarantee automatically covers every guest on the commencement of their cruise for any delays or cancellations due to weather, natural disasters, mechanical breakdowns or labor strikes. Even high/low water issues that plague the industry every year. And just as impressive is that approved claimants will receive direct monetary refunds, up to $750 per day with a maximum of seven days or $5,250 per guest, instead of the industry standard of future cruise credits.
In honor of the 75th anniversary of Normandy’s D-Day, Scenic has developed a new for 2019 eight-day Seine sailing, that explores the beautiful scenery and quaint towns between Paris and Honfleur, on the English Channel and gives guests the opportunity to walk the historic beaches of Normandy and pay their respects at the Normandy Cemetery. Other explorations include visits to the medieval town of Conflans; Vincent van Gogh’s room in Auvers-sur-Oise; a walking tour of Rouen, known for Rouen Cathedral; wandering the rooms of the Benedictine Palace in Fécamp; and Monet’s residence and gardens in Giverny. Departures range from April through October. Other French sailings take in the beauty of Bordeaux and the South of France.
Venturing just south of France, guests can enjoy warm and inviting Portugal – sailing for 8 or 11 days along the country’s main river, the Douro. Beginning with the heritage city of Porto, the itineraries highlight many of the region’s best sites and activities: sparkling wine tasting at Quinta Aveleda; exploring the restored Monastery of Saint John of Tarouca; a lunch and Flamenco dance in the architecturally-rich city of Salamanca; a canoeing adventure on the Sabor River; and learn about the life in port wine town of Pinhᾶo from local residents.
Scenic’s offerings on Europe’s most popular rivers – the Danube, Rhine and Main Canal range from eight-day adventures to 16-day explorations. Scenic shows off the best of all these regions with their exclusive Scenic Enrich program including a private Viennese concert at the Princely family home, Palais Lichtenstein; fine dining and classical music at the fabulous Palais-des-Papes of Avignon; an evening of music at the oldest Baroque residence in the Upper Rhine – Rastatt Palace; and mingling with locals in the small Holland village of Hoorn accompanied by a local meal.
