The Scenic river cruise fleet is growing by leaps and bounds – and we’re adding to our collection of comprehensive ship profiles here on River Cruise Advisor.
This year alone, Scenic is welcoming four distinct ships into its fleet. These ships expand the footprint of the Australia-based tour company’s river cruises like never before, with new ships on the Douro, Mekong and Irrawaddy rivers, plus new vessels on the European waterways (like the Danube) that you know and love.
We’ve added brand-new profiles of the following ships:
- Scenic Amber: Scenic’s latest-and-greatest Space Ship sailing the rivers of Europe.
- Scenic Aura: a new 44-guest ship sailing the Irrawaddy River through Myanmar.
- Scenic Azure: carrying 96 guests along Portugal’s Douro River.
- Scenic Spirit: Scenic’s new 68-guest ship on the Mekong.
New river cruise ships are only half of the story. In 2018, Scenic will debut its first-ever oceangoing luxury expedition cruise ship. Not only is this Scenic’s first foray into ocean cruising, it’s also the company’s first luxury expedition product, which will blend the same level of inclusiveness currently found on the line’s luxury river cruises.
Scenic Eclipse fares will include all meals, regardless of which of the six onboard dining options you chose to indulge in. All beverages – including beer, wine and premium spirits – are provided on a complimentary basis, along with all gratuities, excursions ashore, Wi-Fi, and even onboard butler service that pampers guests with a favorable guest-to-staff ratio.
Billed as the world’s first “discovery yacht”, Scenic Eclipse will boast its own submersible craft and two helicopters for accessing remote locations. Three-plus years in the making, the 228-guest Scenic Eclipse is slated to enter service on August 31, 2018, where she will embark on a series of Mediterranean cruises throughout Europe before launching discovery sailings to the Americas and Antarctica. Voyages to the Norwegian fjords and the Far Arctic are also on-tap.
You can read more about the forthcoming Scenic Eclipse on our sister-site, The Avid Cruiser.

Between now and 2018, it’s full steam ahead for Scenic. We’ll keep you up-to-date regarding the latest Scenic itineraries and fleet developments as they become available.
