Long-standing tour operator Tauck is ramping up its 2014 river cruise offerings in a big way. The company is not only launching two new vessels — the MS Savor and MS Inspire — but also taking the opportunity to craft some new itineraries and roll out additional amenities that will further enhance the line’s goal of delivering guests with “Uncommon Access” throughout Europe.
For 2014, Tauck is introducing four new river cruise tour itineraries: one along the Danube, one along the Rhine, and the line’s first-ever itineraries along the Seine.
On the Seine, Tauck is debuting two separate itineraries, the first of which is a 10-day Rendezvous on the Seine tour that begins in Paris and explores Versailles, Rouen, Honfleur, Les Andelys, Giverny and the historic D-Day landing beaches at Normandy.
The second Seine itinerary has been crafted for those who have more time to spare. The 14-day Cruising the Seine plus Versailles, Paris and London combines a voyage along the Seine with land tours in both Paris and London. There are also some unique sightseeing opportunities included, like the ability to sightsee in Giverny by vintage steam train, or choosing to spend the day in Etreat or Honfleur, Versailles or Montmartre.
Along the Rhine, Tauck’s new Romantic Rhine itinerary whisks guests from Amsterdam to Basel or reverse, offering guests numerous choices for sightseeing each day, like a journey to Strasbourg or a tour of Baden-Baden. Later on, guests can visit historic Koblenz or opt to go bicycling along the Rhine.
For 2014, there’s also a new 10-night Danube Reflections journey that begins in Vienna and concludes in Nuremberg, Germany. This begins with a two-night stay at the Ritz-Carlton Vienna, where you’ll enjoy dinner at the famous Palais Pallavicini, arguably made famous by the classic Orson Welles film, The Third Man. Guests then travel on to Durnstein, the Wachau Valley, Cesky Krumlov, and Passau before arrival in Regensburg and an excursion to Nuremberg. In 2014, Tauck is also providing wine, beer and spirits on a complimentary basis, along with soft drinks and bottled water.
