Holiday Cruises
River cruising in Europe in the winter season is magical, particularly with the Christmas markets all dressed up, nibbling on roasted chestnuts with a warm glass of gluhwein in your hand. It’s one of my favorite times of year to be on the river, and I’ve done it now for four years running.
European River Cruises are now offered into early January. In the interview that follows, Ralph Grizzle talks with Peter Whitehead, a tour guide for AMAWATERWAYS about Christmas Market Cruises on European rivers.
My wife and I have booked a river cruise with Travel Marvel or APT is another name they go by running from Prague to Paris including 14 nights on the river from Budapest to Amsterdam starting 18th December 2016 and ending in Paris 7th January. Just after any do;s and don’ts that we should be aware of. We understand it will be cold but maybe no snow. What are river levels like at that time of year?
There’s no story here. Where is “the interview that follows”?
Sorry, the Youtube link was broken. It’s fixed now. Thanks for letting me know.

Many of my clients have traveled with Uniworld for their new “Christmas Markets” river cruise-tours. Many felt that the weather was better than they thought. They enjoyed the floating fire place in the common area. They also enjoyed the breathtaking views from their French balconies. From experience despite not having a desire to open the sliding glass door (wall to wall/ceiling to floor), The light and view they offer are more than enough to make it worth your wild to spend a little more. We chose to dine in our room one night and had the door wide open and the heat up. It was a very neat experience and the price was less than 1/4 you’d pay in the Spring. Spring has tulips and windmills but remember that you may not always get tulips in time for your cruise. We just don’t know what mother nature has in store for us. If your looking for a top notch experience and your on a budget then try the Christmas Markets with Uniworld.
