Ralph, we have signed up for a Tauck Tours river boat cruise on the Douro in 2021. What do you know about them besides they are expensive. Also signed up on Croisi-Europe again (4th time) for 2020 on the Po River. I really think they have the best food of all the river boat companies we have sailed on –the French food, unlimited wine and wonderful tours–really, you can’t beat them for price. Changed email addresses but subscribed to both of your blogs with the new address. Looking forward to your interesting comments again.
Hi Karen, You’re living the high life – booking on Tauck. They are exceptional. The tours are among the best I have ever done on the rivers. Makes sense. They’ve been a tour company for nearly a century. Good to hear you’re doing Croisi too. I always wanted to cruise the Po. Will look forward to hearing how that turns out. Great to hear from you.
Just returned from a Waterways of the Tsars River Cruise on Viking. Ship experienced some mechanical difficulties which led to our missing two ports of call. We also had the pleasant experience of not having water for over 12 hours. These were made all the worse by a lack of candor by the ship’s staff and them not being proactive in the least.
What options/recourse might we have? They are providing each of us a $500 voucher, but worst customer relations U have ever experienced under the circumstances.
There appears to be two APT cruise companies. One is allied with amawaterways and the other (aptouring.com) originates in Australia. I have had good word-of-mouth reports about the latter but can find nothing about them here.
We only cover Ama, not APT, which essentially charters the Ama ships.
My wife and I are doing the Christmas Market Cruise – Budapest to Amsterdam departing Budapest on December 1st – I followed the river levels / cruises in December 2018 for the trip – river levels were a disaster- was December 2018 just an anomaly or is there genuine concerns about water levels in the Danube and Rhine in December? Also anyone have any insights on Emerald Waterways / food / experience etc 😊
You have comparisons on European river cruise companies how about Asia? Using your chart I had a great time on Scenic with it all inclusives on the Rhine so we were looking west to the Asia cruises on scenic too. Thanks!
Hi Stuart, yes I too am very interested in River Cruises in Asia. Did you get any info back on what is available?
Cheers, Miles
Any reviews of Vantage cruises?
We have a few posts. Search “Vantage” in the search bar.
The website won’t allow me to subscribe. Is there a problem???
Looking for information on river levels and the best time of year to travel.
New e-mail address
Gerry, in each newsletter at the bottom you will see an option to manage your subscription. You can change your email there.
I am already a subsciber but would like some help with suggestions for taking a group from our seniors club on a river cruise….some mobility issues but generally healthy folks….looking for mid priced Danube or Rhine cruises and at a time when water levels are not an issue…any help would be appreciated Ralph!..thanks..Doug Amey
Hi Ralph! We’re home…safe and sound! We had a great time with you and Monica on the A-Rosa Stella. Love the pics!!!
Does anyone have a review of any of the Scenic Tours ships? Not the stats, but the experience – food, service, so on. I have trouble finding any reviews anywhere!
Thanks,
CruiseR
