SWISS SAPPHIRE Ship Review
Launched in 2008, Swiss Sapphire is one of four river ships in the Tauck fleet. Besides operating some of the newest vessels on the water, Tauck places special emphasis on comfort and space aboard its ships.
SWISS SAPPHIRE Staterooms

Swiss Sapphire can accommodate 118 guests in a spacious, club-like atmosphere. Fully 85 percent of staterooms feature ocean views and French balconies, and the ship boasts 14 suites measuring 300 square feet each – the most of any river cruise ship in Europe, including full marble baths. Seven Junior suites are also offered.
All staterooms come with terrycloth bathrobes, L’Occitane toiletries, and slippers. For guests staying in Category 6 suites, Tauck offers interactive video on demand via flat panel plasma televisions, room service breakfast, and a 100 € laundry credit.
SWISS SAPPHIRE Public Areas
Though Swiss Sapphire is a river cruise ship, it offers many of the amenities you might expect from a much larger oceangoing vessel. The wood-paneled Lido Bar offers coffee, tea and light snacks throughout the day, as well as alternative bistro-style dining. The room features a 180-degree glass wall that can open fully to allow guests to enjoy the fresh air.
Complimentary snack baskets are served from 2pm onward, and open-seating dinner is served in the ship’s main restaurant. Complimentary wine is included with dinner, and complimentary beer and soft drinks are available with lunch. The ship also has a 24-hour Jacuzzi, as well as a fitness center, library and boutique.
The ship also features complimentary wireless internet access throughout, and Nintendo Wii games are also available.
Together with her combination of space and enhanced amenities, Swiss Sapphire transports guests to some of Europe’s most intriguing destinations aboard a ship that is at once intimate and inviting, but modern and luxurious.
