Who Are We?
Ralph Grizzle is the founder of The Avid Cruiser and River Cruise Advisor. He began his journalistic career at the age of 32 after spending a decade cycling across America, pedaling through Europe and island-hopping in the South Pacific. Few places have eluded Ralph’s grasp during his two decades as a professional travel writer, and he brings that knowledge, passion and experience to use here on River Cruise Advisor. Dividing his time between Asheville, North Carolina and Helsingborg, Sweden, Ralph’s work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and numerous consumer magazines. The North American Travel Journalism Association honoured Ralph with the award for ‘Best Cruise Writing’ for his article in the 2005 issue of Hemispheres magazine, and he is the author of four books, includingRemembering Charles Kuralt, a biography that Publisher’s Weekly called ‘a sweet and lovely homage, a welcome commemoration.’
Aaron Saunders hails from Calgary, Canada. Formerly a professional offline editor in the animated television industry, Aaron spent the last decade editing the award-winning Atomic Betty, Captain Flamingo, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and 1001 Nights. A cruiser since the age of 15, the sea kept calling Aaron and he founded his own cruise site in 2009 and partnered with Ralph the following year. He writes weekly for the Vancouver Province newspaper. His first book, a work on the history of modern cruising, is due out this fall. He loves travelling for a living, and doesn’t regret leaving the animated talking ponies behind.
