I goofed. I thought I was all set when I purchased travel insurance that covered Covid-related expenses, including the cost of lodging when having to quarantine. But the fine print had a secret lurking. I learned this when I asked InsureMyTrip’s Meghan Walch if she would review my policy for anything I might have missed. She kindly agreed to do so.
First, she noted, my plan did not cover anything related to pre-existing conditions. But the fine print had one deal-killer: “All expenses incurred when the insured trip is a SEA CRUISE are excluded from this policy.”
Meghan advised that I contact the company, Heymondo.com, to ask if river cruises were also excluded. Much to my surprise, I learned that coverage and expenses, in fact, are excluded for river cruises.
In our video interview, we discussed what to look for and what to look out for in a travel insurance policy.
River Cruise Advisor is not compensated in any way from InsureMyTrip.com. We find the company to be a good source for information and comparing insurance policies. Your travel agent also should be able to advise you about travel insurance to suit your needs.
