Viking’s 2022 Oberammergau Itineraries

Viking today announced four Oberammergau itineraries for 2022 – all of which offer the rare chance to see The Passion Play. Oberammergau is best known for its once-per-decade production of The Passion Play depicting the suffering, death and resurrection of Christ, and has been performed by local citizens once every decade since 1634.

  1. Forget about taking a Viking cruise!!!! We just came back from a 7 day Rhine cruise. The company is in financial trouble and is cutting back on getting free tours, meals are nothing to look forward to etc.
1.We have cruised for over 30 years on the big ships and always looked forward to dinner – not on the Viking Sigyn!! The menu on line is not the menu on the ship. Spaghetti and meatballs, veal stew as a main course!!! Very little choice.
    2. We had to deal with the covid issue. Getting somebody to talk to was practically impossible and then different answers were given!!! At least 6 people had to get off the ship because of one test showing positive. 2 days later while contained in a room another test showed negative so Viking acted quickly to get the people flights and get them out of the hotel.
    2. A number of people told us how they loved the cruise they took “several years” ago. That is why we went with Viking. Well things have changed and not for the better.
    3. The ships do not always dock in the places mentioned in the brochure. They want you to take the overpriced tours!!I I have some physical limitations and therefore I couldn’t participate in any of the tours because they were too long. I thought that I could just get off the ship and explore the towns that are mentioned on the website by myself . That only happened twice.
    4. The cabin was nice – equal to the cabins we have had on the big ships. I liked the big window with the balcony, because I could sit on the bed and watch the scenery go by.

  2. They have great cruises we did the Rhine two years ago now I want to see the Passion play and yes you are right I can’t find it in the itineraries I guess I’ll have to call

  3. I was looking at your 2022 Oberammergau page and find myself totally frustrated. How can someone even begin to think about any of your cruises if we cannot find a link to the itinerary on your site!?!?! If you want sometone to seriously consider your company – there are many other 2022 Oberammergau travel offers to consider.

    Thank you.
