This week on Avid Travel With Britton Frost, I am joined by Pam Hoffee, managing director of Avalon Waterways. Pam and I focus this podcast on a single word – choice.
Whether it be through the Avalon Choice Program, an offering of excursions including active, classic, and discovery options; Avalon’s Active Discovery Cruises; or the offering of two-top tables at dinner – Avalon aspires to give guests choices throughout its river cruises that may not be offered traditionally.
After focusing on choice, we talk about low water levels in Europe, which Pam says Avalon “handled very well.”
This and so much more in this week’s Avid Travel With Britton Frost.

we were on a Danube River Cruise at the nd of November 2018. Due to low water levels, there were some changes made to itinerary, and some coach travel instead of ship . . Pam (in this podcast) said they had compensated and made refunds but they have refused for our cruise. Most other cruise lines have compensated their passengers, so I am wondering why Avalon has chosen to do some and not others and she is not replying to my direct messages. So I would love to hear from other Avalon cruisers who have been lucky, when, why etc

Very interested to hear Pam say that Avalon were generous with refunds or credits. . NO THEY WERE NOT on our cruise, not prepared to compensate at all !! So her words ” we were fair” no no because what was good for one passenger should have been offered to all. Why did some get compensated and others not. And I am NOT the sort of person she mentioned that ” would not be happy whatever!!” I would love Pam Hoffer to contact me and to rectify/discuss this issue because most on our cruise were not happy, unlike her comments to make it sound better than it is/was
