Plenty of cruise lines pass major milestones of great importance in their corporate histories, but few have thrown the kind of celebration that Strasbourg-based CroisiEurope is planning to celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2016.
To honor its 40-year history as one of Europe’s oldest family-operated river cruise lines, CroisiEurope has unveiled a massive 40-day river cruise that combines six individual itineraries.
Running from May 5 – June 15, 2016, the first of six itineraries sails along the Guadalquivir and the Guadiana rivers that flow through Spain and Portugal.
After a week in these two sun-splashed countries, guests will then fly to Bordeaux, France for a journey along the Gironde River through France’s famed wine and cognac region. Port calls include Pauillac, Blaye, Bourg, Libourne, Cadillac, and the meticulously preserved UNESCO World Heritage Site of St-Emilion.
The journey through the Bordeaux region kicks off another two weeks of river cruising through France, first along the Loire-Chateaux region, and then along the magnificent Seine River that winds its way through that most iconic of French cities, Paris. The Seine journey also includes calls in Honfleur, Caudebec-en-Caux, Rouen and Conflans.
From France, the high-speed TGV whisks guests from Paris to CroisiEurope’s homebase of Strasbourg, where the fifth segment – a weeklong journey on the Rhine – begins on May 23.

But no river cruise through Europe – even a massive 40-day one – is complete without a journey along the famous “blue” Danube, and CroisiEurope has selected one that travels the entire length of the Danube to the Black Sea.
After sailing the Danube to Budapest, guests will have the chance to go further east and explore the ports of Mohacs, Vukovar, Novi Sad, Belgrade, Girgiu, Ruse, and Tulcea.
Taking guests on this fabulous 40-day journey will be four of CroisiEurope’s most distinctive ships, including the La Belle de Cadix, Cyrano de Bergerac, Botticelli and the MS Gerard Schmitter.
In keeping with the special nature of this river cruise, CroisiEurope has planned a number of special inclusions for this 40-day journey. These include:
- All transfers between the six itineraries
- Unlimited beverages onboard
- Unlimited shore excursions, all of which have been upgraded from standard tours
- Food and wine tastings
- Special gifts for guests given throughout the voyage
- An onboard photographer
- Gourmet cuisine overseen by head chef Alain Bohn
Bookings for this very special voyage are now open and begin at US$10,900 per person.
