Viking River Cruises has announced it will renew its sponsorship of PBS’ MASTERPIECE for another year. MASTERPIECE was recently earned 24 Emmy nominations for the 2014 year, and its celebrated programming includes the wildly-popular Downton Abbey, as well as Sherlock and Mr. Selfridge.
“Our partnership with MASTERPIECE is successful largely because of similarities between our audiences. Viking’s guests, many of whom are MASTERPIECE viewers, enrich their lives through history, culture and exploration,” said Richard Marnell, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Viking River Cruises. “We strongly believe in marketing the Viking experience to like-minded travelers, so we are proud to continue our relationship with MASTERPIECE, and we congratulate them on their 2014 Emmy nominations.”
“I’m very honored to say that after 44 years, MASTERPIECE continues to make news, win awards, and attract new audiences,” said MASTERPIECE Executive Producer Rebecca Eaton. “How many other television series have the great good fortune to make that claim? It’s the fine work of our British partners and the solid support of PBS, our colleagues at Viking River Cruises and others that makes this all possible.”
Because of the popularity of Downton Abbey with its guests, Viking River Cruises also offers guests an optional excursion to Highclere Castle, where the series is set. The Oxford & Highclere Castle pre- or post- trip experience is available for guests on Viking’s Cities of Light or Paris & the Heart of Normandy itineraries. Co-created with the owners of Highclere Castle, the Earl and Countess of Carnarvon, Viking guests spend three days in the rolling hills of England’s countryside, complete with a champagne welcome and special tour of the famous home.
Viking is set to take delivery of an additional 12 river cruise ships next year, including two brand-new, Longship-style vessels along the Elbe River. 2015 will also see the introduction of Viking Star, Viking’s first foray into ocean cruising.

Congratulations for your support of Masterpiece Theatre! I’ve always enjoyed the music that accompanies your advertisements.
One in particular I enjoy very much is the one piece with ‘vibrant’ violins, strings and orchestra. Here’s a link to that music:

Please let me know what the name of that piece is, played by who and a record reference. This would be very appreciated.
I am thinking on experiencing a river cruise on the Danube.
