More new river cruise ships are hitting the waterways of Europe this spring. In April, Strasbourg-based CroisiEurope will welcome in the newest member of its fleet: the 295-foot long MS Lafayette.
Entering service along the Rhine, the MS Lafayette will be a groundbreaking ship for CroisiEurope, as she features an entirely new general arrangement plan that incorporates larger, 161-square foot staterooms that will be equipped with floor-to-ceiling picture windows. A total of 42 of these staterooms will be featured aboard the MS Lafayette, each of which will feature a widescreen TV, safe, hair dryer, mini-bar, and individual climate control.
The MS Lafayette will operate a new itinerary for CroisiEurope along the Rhine, sailing from Amsterdam, Netherlands to Basel, Switzerland. The line will also offer exclusive excursions to Mainau Island, Mainz, the Black Forest and the Titisee, Strasbourg and Aix-la-Chapelle or a journey to Aachen, the picturesque and westernmost city in Germany.
Public rooms aboard the MS Lafayette will be similar to those found on CroisiEurope’s most recent vessels, with a modern dining room, an attractive lounge, and an open sun deck well suited to taking in the sights and sounds of the Rhine.
The MS Lafayette will be christened in a ceremony in Strasbourg, France on March 28, 2014. Her Godmother will be Mary Rose N. Reade, wife of United States Consul General Evan G. Reade. A member of the U.S. Foreign Service since 1989, Reade has served as Consul General in Strasbourg since September 1, 2001.
