River cruise ships along Europe’s waterways are emerging faster than the springtime flowers. The newest river cruise ship to hit the waters is the luxurious Amadeus Silver, the largest vessel constructed for Austrian-owned Amadeus by Lüftner Cruises.
The 443-foot long Amadeus Silver carries 180 guests in 90 chic staterooms designed with upscale luxury in mind. Standard staterooms measure a generous 172 square feet with automatic, drop-down French balconies; while 258-square foot Balcony Suites feature a full-size, step-out balcony from which to enjoy the passing vistas.
What’s notable about the Amadeus Silver is her interior styling. Space onboard any river cruise ship is at a premium, yet designers found a way to expand the physical well-being options onboard by creating a two-story fitness center accessible by a decorative spiral staircase.
These unexpected design elements also extend to the ship’s other public spaces; rather than having a staircase placed along the centerline of the ship, designers placed the central staircase in the ship’s Reception Lobby along the side of the ship, backed by a two-story wall of glass that lets in the views of Europe just outside.
On the stateroom front, Amadeus has carved out a design and style that is entirely its own. Rooms are attractively furnished and elegantly appointed, with clean lines, premium furnishings and fixtures, and borderless floor-to-ceiling windows.
For its maiden season, Amadeus Silver will sail the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers, in addition to voyages that explore the best of Belgium and Holland. Next year, she will feature 30 departure dates spread across seven itineraries that explore some of Europe’s most captivating cities, with visits to Amsterdam, Cologne, Salzburg, Vienna and Budapest.
Amadeus is also mindful of its Austrian heritage. Onboard Amadeus Silver is the Café Vienna, a traditional Austrian coffee house serving up Sachertorte specialties. There’s also an open-air lounge known as the River Terrace located on the ship’s bow that features stunning views of the river ahead.
In addition to onboard lectures, folklore shows and theme evenings with replete with live music, guests can partake in any of the included shore tours, along with complimentary bicycle rentals that allow guests to explore Europe’s scenic countryside at their leisure.
