Uniworld River Cruises is eagerly anticipating the launch of its newest vessel, the S.S. Antoinette, which is due to hit the Rhine late next month. Dubbed by the line as a “Super Ship,” the S. S. Antoinette is Uniworld’s largest river cruise vessel, and one of the largest on the waterways. At 443 feet in length and 37.5 feet wide, the S.S. Antoinette features Uniworld’s most spacious public areas and passenger accommodations.
The ship’s accomodations are also home to some innovative features, including two full decks of staterooms and suites that offer full open-air balconies. That’s impressive on its own, but the true “cool” factor kicks in with the addition of a switch that, when pressed, raises glass partitions to create a fully enclosed conservatory-style space.
All staterooms feature flat-panel interactive televisions, which come complete with video-on-demand, music, news, and onboad hotel services. Suites have an additional television – located on the balcony.
The S.S. Antoinette boasts another industry first: a 20-seat movie theatre featuring Dolby Surround sound. Surround sound is also available in a unique location: under the water of the ship’s swimming pool. Piped-in music creates a relaxing atmosphere, and along with the ship’s Serenity River Spa and Fitness Center, adds to the list of wellness options available for passengers.
Designed by the De Hoop shipyard in the Netherlands, S.S. Antoinette is one of the most customized river cruise vessels the yard has ever built. The new vessel includes special technology designed to limit engine vibration and noise, ensuring passengers have a smoother, quieter river cruise experience. The ship also boasts “green” technology, such as glass crushers and compactors, a state-of-the-art waste management system, and a food macerator.
