Avalon Waterways has joined Cruise Lines International Association as the organization’s 25th member line.
Avalon is CLIA’s third river cruise member; AMA Waterways and Uniworld River Cruises are the other two.
“The growing river cruise experience is becoming increasing popular,” Terry Dale, CLIA’s president and CEO, said in a statement.
Littleton, Colo.-based Avalon, owned by the Globus family of brands, leases and operates a fleet of eight river cruise vessels in Europe, the latest of which, the Avalon Creativity, launched this month.
Two new ships, the Avalon Luminary and Avalon Felicity will debut in 2010, bringing Avalon’s European fleet total to 10. The company also operates cruises on the Nile River in Egypt, on the Yangtze River in China and in the Galápagos Islands.
