A river cruise can be an expensive proposition, as its inclusive nature typically commands a higher price point than ocean cruises. Strasbourg-based CroisiEurope wants to change that proposition, for the better.
Currently, the line is offering a weeklong Holland and the Romantic Rhine Valley itinerary starting at just US$1,499 person, a real boon for value-conscious consumers who want to river cruise.
Offered between April 20 and October 23, 2016 aboard a wide variety of ships, this weeklong escape along the Rhine includes two full days in Amsterdam, followed by port calls in Nijmegen, Krefeld, Cologne, Koningswinter, Rudesheim, and Speyer (or Mannheim), before your ship finally arrives in the beautiful historic city of Strasbourg, France where your journey comes to a close.
The bulk of CroisiEurope’s Holland and the Romantic Rhine Valley sailings occur between April and June, when the world-famous Keukenhof Gardens is open for Holland’s legendary tulip season.
On sailings departing between April and mid-May, CrosiEurope offers complimentary excursions to this beautiful place, located not far from Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport. A love of flowers isn’t necessary to love Keukenhof: The entire park is an enchanting place that offers a number of interesting diversions, not to mention fresh food and cold beers served liberally throughout. For guests sailing between June and October, CroisiEurope will offer tours of Volendam and the Zaanse Schans instead.
CroisiEurope has always positioned itself as the value-leader in European river cruising, and this itinerary certainly demonstrates that. Included in the cost of the voyage are complimentary beer, spirits, wine, mineral bottled water, specialty coffees, soft drinks, and, as is customary on all river cruises, all onboard meals. On the more technical side, all port fees are included, along with excursions in Amsterdam, Cologne, Rudesheim and Heidelberg.
Normally when cruise lines advertise prices like this, it’s typically on one or two departures and to be sure, there are two departure dates – both on April 20, 2016 – that offer an additional Special Offer that features a stateroom category upgrade.
The good news though, particularly for those who can’t travel in April, is that pricing for this itinerary remains attractive right through the year. If you can travel to Europe during the fall months (which are still quite attractive, with warmer temperatures than you might expect), then the October 23, 2016 sailing of the MS Victor Hugo is priced at a hard-to-resist $1,499 per person.
Based in Strasbourg, France, CroisiEurope wants to show you its Europe – at a price that isn’t going to break the bank. It’s just another example of how river cruising is continually changing to meet the demands of an ever-growing segment of travellers, and CroisiEurope has made it clear that it wants to create affordable river cruises for all.
