Long-standing tour operator Tauck has unveiled some tantalizing details about its new riverboats that will hit the waterways of Europe next year. Among the revelations: The ms Inspire and ms Savor will each boast 22 spacious, 300-square foot suites; an increase of 57 percent over the company’s existing Jewel-class river cruise ships.
These new Inspiration Class vessels will also be longer than the line’s highly regarded Jewel Class river cruise ships, already some of the most spacious afloat. At 443 feet long, they’re over 80 feet longer, yet the total passenger capacity increase is set to be quite modest, with just 130 guests onboard versus 118 for the line’s existing vessels.
“Our guests travel with Tauck because they demand a superior experience, and that same insistence on having ‘the best’ drives very high demand for suites aboard our riverboats,” explains Tauck CEO Dan Mahar. “Our suites are always the first cabins to sell out on our Jewel Class ships, even though the Jewel Class vessels already have far more suites than most other riverboats. When we sat down to develop our new Inspiration Class ships, it only made sense to raise the number of suites even higher.”
All suites aboard the ms Inspire and ms Savor will be situated on the ships’ Diamond decks, and all will feature a spacious walk-in closet with built-in drawers; marble baths with dual vanity sinks; two French balconies with floor-to-ceiling windows, and brocade upholstery.
Like Tauck’s current Jewel-class ships, all suites and staterooms on these new vessels will feature in-room movies, a minibar, individual climate control, Molton Brown toiletries, and plush bedding with 100 percent goose down pillows resting atop 400 thread-count linens and pillow-top mattresses.
But Tauck hasn’t neglected its most affordable staterooms aboard these new vessels: Eight, 225-square foot staterooms will be located on the lower Emerald deck and will feature an innovative “loft” design that features a raised platform seating area situated next to the hull. These lofts will feature a seating area with a small table and two chairs, plus a raised ceiling that allows for a larger-than-average river view window. As a bonus, the upper portion of this window can open to let fresh air into the stateroom, a huge bonus for those who value that aspect of a French balcony stateroom, but who wish to remain price-conscious.
Tauck has also opened each of its distinct 19 European river cruise itineraries for immediate booking.
