AmaWaterways announced yesterday that it will be introducing two new ships for the 2013 river cruise season: the European-based AmaPrima and the Portugal-based AmaVida.
“The overall quality of river cruising is changing,” said AmaWaterways Founder Rudi Schreiner. “AmaWaterways continues to lead the industry by adding two new ships that feature spacious cabins, gourmet fine dining and unforgettable tour excursions that immerse travelers in the local culture and history.”
Carrying 164 guests, the AmaPrima will sail the waterways of Europe in 2013. She’ll feature some of the most advanced river cruise design afloat, including a heated swimming pool, more staterooms featuring both French and full step-out balconies, multiple fine dining venues, and other amenities that AmaWaterways’ guests have come to appreciate, like free internet access, flat-panel televisions, on-demand movies, and more.
The AmaVida will join the new AmaVoyages product in Portugal, sailing the astounding Douro River Valley. Famed for its Port wine production, itineraries sailing the Douro River Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are some of the hottest selling itineraries afloat.
Carrying just 108 guests, the AmaVida features French balconies in most of her staterooms, with stunning river views for the remainder. Fine gourmet dining and free-flowing local wines allow for a better cultural appreciation of the rich culinary delights of this one-of-a-kind region, and the stunning scenery can be taken in from the open sun deck. A swimming pool, spa and fitness centre, complimentary in-room internet access and Wi-Fi are also on offer aboard this intimate ship.
