Interviewing travel agents and cruise executives, Susan Young writes that river cruising is becoming a family affair in her article “New Twists In River Cruising.” However, she advises that if small children are part of the picture, check with individual lines. Most river lines lack kids’ facilities and don’t cater to families with children. Riverboats also may be too staid for many teens.

I have to agree, a river cruise can make for a really great family holiday, just make sure you research what facilities each line has to offer so the kids don’t get bored and have plenty to do.
